Every once and awhile this means that while reading a book for pleasure I discover that the content relates to my own research and that I would need to have a copy of this for future reference. Sennett asserts that western civilization’s historical drive toward personal freedom especially in one’s physical life has actually culminated in passive bodies rather than active ones, in sterile spaces rather than lively ones.
Sennett llbro theory from a number of disciplines, including history, sociology, urban development, psychology, economics and cultural anthropology.
