Heya.I've been asking some stuff yesterday about this game and decided to buy it now. So I've installed it via Steam, and apparently (as it seems to be normal) the game itself installed a SECOND time, but on another path. Now I have googled and saw that apparently you can simply copy+paste the new folder to another spot/harddrive and it simply starts from this new folder.

The drive selected for installation must have at least 40 GB of free space available. The drive containing the My Documents folder must have at least 2 GB of free space available.

But as soon as I do this (I paste it into the new path and delete the old one), and i launch the game via Steam, it asks me to create an account/login again and after I did, it starts downloading the whole game again. Now this wouldn't be such a big issue, but this game is installing in C: for me. C: is my SSD where I mostly only keep my personal documents and maybe 1-2 main games I play due to loading screens.

C: only has 50GB of free space so I'd really like to not have it there, but on another hard drive. Can someone tell me how I can fix this? Or will launching via steam always cause the game to try and install in C:?. I don't have the Steam version of the game, just the standard PC version. And for that, it is as simple as moving the folder and then starting the game. But before you moved your FFXIV Steam install, did you first go into Steam and create the new Library folder location?

I have moved many games on Steam (just not FFXIV), and before doing so I would go into the Steam settings and add a new Library folder. Then I would move the SteamApps folder to the new location.

After that when I launched the game in Steam, it would find it in the new location and work without issue. The issue is, the folder that got installed by Steam does absolutely nothing. It's currently sitting in 'A:Program FilessteamappscommonFinal Fantasy XIV Online'.I installed this one and launched. Launcher opened, game got installed a second time under 'C:UserUserDocumentsMy GamesFinal Fantasy XIV - A Realm Reborn'.I completely ignore the steam-installed folder in A: since it doesn't do anything anyways.

I simply copy+paste the folder from C: and move it to A:, but that doesn't do anything but forcing me to install it again. When I move it back where it used to be (so under My Gamesetc), it starts just fine.
